Beetroot turns up in sports drinks because it's high in dietary nitrates, which the body converts to nitric oxide — the reason it's studied in endurance sport. Korean pear has a long history of use for hangovers in Korea specifically.

Energy drinks and recovery drinks do opposite jobs. Energy drinks are usually caffeine and sugar, taken before. Recovery drinks are about rehydration and replacing what's been used, taken after.
