Cooking Sauces

Organic cooking sauces, pastes and simmer sauces from Biona, Clearspring, Organic Kitchen, Organico and Prima Italia.

Italian: pasta sauces, pesto, passata and balsamic. Japanese and East Asian: shoyu, tamari, mirin, teriyaki and miso pastes. Plus Thai curry pastes, tikka masala and satay simmer sauces, and ginger, garlic and turmeric pastes.

One distinction worth knowing — shoyu and tamari are both soy sauce, but shoyu is brewed with wheat and tamari isn't. If you're avoiding gluten, tamari is the one to look for. Double-strength tamari is more concentrated, so you need less.

Simmer sauces are cooked with the ingredients; table sauces go on afterwards.
