Why do filter jugs not work?
Filter jugs use carbon to remove contaminants in tap water, but they only remove certain contaminants such as chlorine and larger particles such as sand and grit. Many other chemicals found in tap water are not filtered out and still end up in your glass. Filter jugs are also difficult to keep clean and often end up introducing more contaminants into your water.
Why is bottled water not safe?
Many bottled water manufacturers use tap water. Some will filter and add minerals to improve the taste, but they do not aim to remove chemical contaminants from the water they bottle. Even water from natural springs is contaminated with pollution from the surrounding environment, such as pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, micro plastics, and more. Recent studies have also shown that bottled water exposes consumers to almost 22x the levels of micro plastics found in tap water, and someone drinking bottled water frequently may ingest up to 90,000 micro plastic particles each year.
