Gluten Free Cereals

Gluten free breakfast cereals, muesli, granola and porridge, from Doves Farm's Freee range, Just Natural, Kallo, Alara and Amisa.

Oats are naturally gluten free. The complication is milling — most oats are processed on shared lines with wheat, which is why ordinary porridge oats can't carry a gluten free label even though the grain itself contains no gluten. Oats sold as gluten free are grown and milled separately to avoid that.

For boxed cereals, corn flakes, fibre flakes, chocolate stars and buckwheat hoops are the gluten free equivalents of the usual breakfast shelf. Puffed rice is naturally gluten free and usually a single ingredient.
